Presenter Instructions

PolMeth 2026 will be held July 16–18, 2026 in East Lansing, Michigan.

Please upload your materials using the Dropbox links below by the deadline of 5:00 PM ET on Friday, July 3, 2026; submitted materials will be linked from the conference program. For any questions, email polmeth2026@gmail.com.

Please upload a PDF of your paper by 5:00 PM ET on Friday, July 3, 2026 to our Dropbox (no Dropbox account needed): https://www.dropbox.com/request/rxhh76n01eey7q2oij1d

Please name your file: LastName_Paper_ShortTitle.pdf

Submitted papers will be linked from the conference program. Please upload a PDF rather than a Word document or another editable format. If you revise the paper after the deadline, you are welcome to upload an updated PDF; the July 3 deadline is intended to ensure that discussants and participants have access to papers in advance.

You do not need to contact your discussant. We will share your paper with your assigned discussant on our end, and you will be notified of who your discussant is in advance of the meeting.

Presentation length depends on how many papers are on your panel. On a two-paper panel, please plan for about 20 minutes; on a three-paper panel, please keep your presentation to about 15 minutes so that all papers, the discussant, and audience questions fit within the session. Final timing will be confirmed in the program.

Please bring your slides in a format that will be easy to use in the panel room. A PDF backup is strongly recommended.

Please upload a PDF of your poster by 5:00 PM ET on Friday, July 3, 2026 to our Dropbox (no Dropbox account needed): https://www.dropbox.com/request/rxhh76n01eey7q2oij1d

Please name your file: LastName_Poster_ShortTitle.pdf

Submitted posters will be linked from the conference program. Please upload your poster as a PDF. Files submitted in other formats will be converted to PDF, and the accuracy or quality of the conversion cannot be guaranteed.

If your poster has an accompanying paper, you are welcome to upload that PDF as well. Please email polmeth2026@gmail.com to indicate whether you would like the poster, the paper, or both linked from the program.

Poster presenters should print their posters no wider than 4 feet (48 inches), which is the maximum the poster boards can accommodate, and bring them to the conference. We recommend printing at about 36 inches tall by 42 inches wide in landscape (horizontal) orientation, which leaves a comfortable margin on the board. We will provide the poster boards and mounting tacks on site. Poster session assignments and board numbers will be shared with the final program or by email before the meeting.

Please be at your poster during your assigned poster session so that attendees and your discussant can find you easily.

Below are some resources that might be useful for helping you prepare your poster:

Discussants play an important role in making PolMeth panels and poster sessions productive and constructive.

Panel Discussants

Paper presenters have been asked to submit their papers by 5:00 PM ET on Friday, July 3, 2026. We will share each paper with its assigned discussant, so you do not need to contact presenters yourself. If you have not received your paper shortly after the deadline, please email email polmeth2026@gmail.com.

Discussion comments at PolMeth are typically a highlight of the conference. Please prepare comments that engage the paper's contribution, methods, and presentation clearly and constructively. Discussant comments are typically about 15–20 minutes, but please follow the timing listed in the final program.

Discussants are welcome, but not required, to prepare slides. If you do prepare slides, please bring them in a format that will be easy to use in the panel room. A PDF backup is strongly recommended.

Poster Discussants

Poster discussants should visit their assigned poster during the poster session and offer feedback to the presenter. No formal presentation or written comments are required. The goal is to ensure that every poster presenter receives substantive engagement during the session.

If you are unable to attend your assigned poster session, please email polmeth2026@gmail.com. as soon as possible.

All submitted files should be PDFs, named as shown above. For questions about presenter instructions, submissions, or discussant assignments, please email polmeth2026@gmail.com

Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to follow the Society for Political Methodology Code of Conduct and to help maintain a professional, respectful, and harassment-free environment throughout the meeting. See the Code of Conduct page for the full policy and ombudsperson contact information.
